Many people who use mental health services find themselves in need of advice and support with education. This may be because their education, either at school or college, was interrupted by ill-health or it may be that they need to refresh their skills particularly with IT.
The Education Unit offers one of our most important and valued services. What follows is a brief guide, written by members, to what we offer. If you want to know more please ring us at the Clubhouse (Tel: 01372-375400).
How we can support you
If you are thinking of signing up for a course and not sure what you would like to do we can assist you in finding a course that suits you and support you along the way.
It may be that you would like to refresh your English and Maths, take up a computer course, learn a new skill, undertake an Open University course, or just find out what is available for a future goal.
We can arrange a visit to different colleges, as nearly all have open days. This can give you a better idea of what facilities the college has to offer. All colleges offer extra support, if you want it, and you can get extra tuition as well.
Financial assistance from the colleges can be applied for on some courses, and some colleges can assist with travel expenses.
If you are considering a course, the hours may affect your Benefits. 16 hours a week is the maximum you can sign up for without affecting your Benefits.
