Happy holidays from MFT!

Here we are. Coming to the end of yet another year. And what a year it has been! For Mary Frances Trust, it has meant continuous, steady growth and development. From taking on and expanding to new areas and establishing our presence in Elmbridge and Spelthorne, increasing our number of referrals, to becoming an important partner in the new development of primary care mental health services – there is a lot for us to be proud of!

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my special wishes for a happy Christmas holiday to all my colleagues, our volunteers and their families. I hope you will find the time to discover the real meaning of this wonderful season – caring, sharing and loving – and enjoy your well-deserved rest. Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication. It’s thanks to you our organisation is able to deliver a much needed, high-quality service to the people of Surrey. A special thank you to those of you who will continue to work during the holiday so some of our services can stay open. To find out what groups and activities will be running, check out our calendars.

I would also like to wish all of our partners and friends a fantastic Christmas and New Year. May your holiday be warm, peaceful and safe. We look forward to working with you again in 2019!

And finally, to everyone using our services, let me wish you and your loved ones a lovely Christmas and holiday with lots of joyful moments to cherish forever.

We mustn’t forget that this time of the year is not joyous and festive for everyone. For some of us, Christmas can be particularly difficult. Let’s remember that the image, so often presented to us by media, of big happy families enjoying huge feast and mountains of presents is very rarely true. A simple celebration of what we have with our friends or close family is often less stressful and equally enjoyable.

If you find yourself in emotional crisis and require help over Christmas and New Year, please remember that support is always available. Our Safe Haven is open every day from 6pm until 11pm in Aldershot, Epsom, Guildford, Redhill and Woking. Check the Community Connections website for more information.

Alternatively, many helplines will stay open over the holiday period. Check out our emergency contact list for more information.

We look forward to seeing you all in 2019, rested and full of good resolutions. May the new year bring you joy, wellbeing and many personal accomplishments.

Best wishes for the festive season,

Patrick Wolter
