Autism Support Group Volunteer (Epsom)
  • Autism Support Group Volunteer (Epsom)

Working closely with our member of staff / facilitator, this role will complement and support the service delivery of our ‘Brickfield’ Autism Peer Support Group.  Based at a local community facility in Epsom, this will be a rewarding role for someone seeking a regular opportunity.  The group runs on a Monday each week and Volunteers can opt to do either weekly or fortnightly sessions.

This group provides a safe, non-judgemental environment for people to meet and talk over coffee.  The first hour is taken up with individual attendee ‘check ins’ where members can ask for input on positive coping strategies and ways of resolving certain issues they may be facing.  The 2nd hour usually consists of other activities i.e. a quiz, games, puzzles etc.  This role would suit someone with good people skills, common sense and the ability to get alongside others in a relaxed setting is something we look for.   It includes a small amount of time either side of the group meeting to set up and pack away.

Due to the nature of our work, this role would suit someone wanting a more medium to long term involvement.  Some clients may have communication and confidence difficulties due to a number of health-related issues.
