There are many free community events in Surrey happening in December 2023 to get you into a festive spirit – from Christmas markets and fairs all the way to festive walks and magic shows. We’ve listed them all below.
Breakfast with Santa, St Mark’s Church, Tattenham Corner
For the past few years we have held a breakfast with Santa followed by our Sunday @ Ten service. Instead of receiving gifts from Santa we give him unwrapped gifts for the families helped by the East Surrey Domestic Abuse Service (ESDAS).
This year, St Mark’s Church are intending to hold the breakfast again on Sunday 10 December at 9.15am. So come and enjoy a delicious breakfast and meet Santa and bring him a gift.

Ready Steady Christmas, West Molesey
Ready Steady Christmas will be hosted St Peter’s West Molesey Community & Youth Hub and is an afternoon with a Radish the magician magic show, Christmas crafts, biscuit making & food all to be enjoyed together as a family. Thursday 21 December 2023 from 2pm until 5pm at the St Peter’s Community and Youth Hub. Spaces are limited, so please book quickly!
They ask that you let them know of any allergies in advance so they can cater for them by emailing community@spwm.org.uk.
Families will get a chance to have a snack together, enjoy a magic show and then enjoy a rotation of biscuit decorating, circus skills and other Christmas fun. They will end the party with some party food.
This event is FREE to children of all ages but please note a grown up does have to stay to supervise.

Frost Fair, Farnborough
Christmas spirit will be sprinkled over the Farnborough town centre, with free activities and performances.
Find your Christmas presents in the festive market, with more than 40 stalls along Queensmead, packed full of gorgeous gifts, from local food and drink to handmade jewellery and unique Christmas decorations.
Families can enjoy walkabout street theatre, have a go at circus skills with Juggling Jake, build a Christmas shape from bricks, meet beautiful birds of prey, feed the donkeys, enjoy making Christmas decorations in the free children’s crafts tent, watch giant bubble creations, have their faces painted – and much more!
Children can also meet Father Christmas in his grotto and bounce around in the giant snow globe for free.
Come along and soak up the seasonal atmosphere!
The event is managed by Rushmoor Borough Council and is part funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund

Christmas Fayre, Epsom

Meeting Room, Fetcham
This year, The Meeting Room are making a few changes as they adapt to their clients’ needs and what is happening in their local community. After much thought and consideration, they will not be hosting lunch on Christmas Day at Fetcham Village Hall this year, but instead, will be holding two Christmas lunch parties:
Attendance at these two events is by reservation only, so please talk to one of their staff members, as places are limited. In addition, they will be hosting a Christmas party for their clients, staff and volunteers on Monday 18 December at their Leatherhead drop-in at Leatherhead FC and also, delivering presents to families most in need in the lead-up to Christmas.

Swan Centre Festive Magic, Leatherhead
On Saturday 2, 9 & 16 December – 11am – 3pm.
For the first three Saturdays in December, the Swan shopping centre have a whole host of free festive activities to keep you and the little ones busy, while ticking off those must have Christmas gifts! PLUS they have FREE parking on event days!

Christmas Fair, Dorking
Dorking is inviting community partners to come together and join us as we plan to fill the high street with twinkling lights, festive market stalls, carol singers and performers, festive music and entertainment, competitions, family-friendly entertainment, Father Christmas, and a joyful Christmas parade that showcases our local community talent. Leatherhead Community Hub Christmas Event
Leatherhead Community Hub will hold their Christmas event won Saturday 16 December between 2pm and 5.30pm in their Old Schoolhouse café located Kingston Rd, Leatherhead KT22 7PX.
Join them for carols, a raffle, and food and drinks. The nursery will be hosting children’s fun activities in the hall and the New Malden Ukulele Giants will be back to entertain after their great performance at the Summer BBQ.
(Please note that the café will close for Christmas from Thursday 21 December until Wednesday 3 January. They’ll only be serving coffee and cake on Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 December.

Winter Walk, Guildford
Please note that the walk is mainly outside and about a half a mile long with regular stops. It will take about 60 minutes and will end at Guildford Museum for a hot drink and a piece of cake! For more information please visit the Visit Surrey website.
