Hello everyone,
I hope you are surviving this lockdown and staying safe. I thought this week I would create this bright, colourful landscape picture to hopefully cheer you up!
You will need:
I started by making a very simple drawing of a landscape. I put some mountains in and a lake with boats as I’m missing seeing the countryside. You can follow the step-by-step pictures to see how I built up the picture. It only needs to be very simple so don’t worry too much about getting it perfect.
Once I was happy with my picture I went over all the lines with a black pen. If there are pencil lines showing you can rub these out, but don’t worry too much if not because you won’t see them once you colour it in.
I then coloured in each section using a series of lines or swirls on contrasting colours. I used felt tip pens for mine as I wanted the colours to be bold and vibrant, but you could easily use crayons instead. For the rocks and the tree leaves I used swirls, and for the fields I used smoother lines. I used some patterns to fill in the mountains as I wanted to make them look darker and further away. In some sections, I added more than one colour like the sun and the water. It doesn’t matter what colours you use. The more colourful the better in my opinion! There is no right or wrong way to do this picture and it doesn’t need to be neat. I think if some of the lines are a bit wobbly, it adds to the effect.
I hope you have enjoyed this activity and I hope you can create a lovely landscape to imagine and escape to! As always I would love to see any of your creations. Please get in touch with comments, suggestions and photos via my social media on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter as: The Crafty Hare UK (@thecraftyhareuk) or you can leave a comment and a picture on MFT’s post if you prefer.
Thanks for reading and I will “see you” next week!
