Making Sense of the AGM

Annual General Meetings (AGMs) can sometimes feel confusing or daunting, especially if you’re attending one for the first time. This year, we’re offering different opportunities to learn more about AGMs and what being a Member means for you. These sessions are designed to help you understand your options, ask questions and decide how — or whether — you’d like to take part.

Before the AGM Notice: What is an AGM?

In August, we’ll be running three information sessions called “What is an AGM?”.

These sessions are a chance to:

Learn what an AGM is and what happens at an AGM

Understand what being a Member means and the role Members play at the AGM

The choices you have as a Member

Ask questions — or simply listen and learn more!

“What’s An AGM?” Session dates

There’s no pressure to commit to anything at this stage. All three pre-AGM sessions will cover the same content, so you can choose the date, time and format that works best for you.

After the AGM Notice: AGM Information Sessions

In September 2026, we will send our Notice of AGM to all clients who have registered to be on our newsletter distribution list. The Notice of AGM is the official invitation to attend our AGM with all the info. If you’re not already on our newsletter list and would like to be added, please contact our office at info@maryfrancestrust.org.uk or on 01372 375 400 or SMS 07929 024722.

Once the Notice has gone out, we’ll run two further AGM Information Sessions.
These sessions will focus on:

What will happen at this year’s AGM

How voting works, including proxy voting

What support is available on the day

An opportunity to ask any questions you may have

The sessions are designed to help you understand what to expect and decide what feels right for you. Both sessions will cover the same content, so you can choose the time that works best for you.
