“I would not have been able to get through, coped or even survived the way I did without the enormous amount of support and encouragement that Mary Frances Trust provided. They were truly incredible, amazing and unstinting. The staff and volunteers have made themselves available for everyone, through telephone calls, video links and emails, and everyone is always compassionate, understanding and patient.
In addition, a vast array of interesting courses and activities were made available on Zoom. One particular activity is the ‘Coffee Morning’, which runs between 10.30am-11.30 am, and this has been a Godsend. The ‘Coffee Morning’ is great for support, especially for people who live on their own and don’t have any relatives living close by. The Monday Quiz was and continues to be great fun, however, hard work for the ‘Quizmasters’ who have to set the questions!! Monday’s was just a whirlwind and plethora of sessions or courses; from the ‘Coffee Morning’, followed by a ‘Mindfulness Meditation’, the Quiz and then finally, the very interesting and creative, Arts and Crafts session!! Phew… Exhausting!
The three times weekly (triweekly!!) ‘Meditation sessions’ were (almost!) literally a lifesaver to me… I had been going through particularly harrowing, traumatic and stressful time and I found the Meditation sessions extremely useful, relaxing and beneficial. I certainly noticed a vast difference in my mental wellbeing and disposition after a few sessions of Meditation.
Throughout the lockdown, I always felt that The Mary Frances Trust were ‘just a reach away’ if I so needed them. They always remain very kind, calm, supportive and all the Staff and Volunteers have always shown extreme kindness, empathy and understanding. I walked the long and lonely road of ‘Coronavirus lockdown’ with Mary Frances Trust, by my side and holding my hand, to say I am exceptionally and extremely grateful is probably the biggest understatement imaginable. I salute Mary Frances Trust and I thank them for their support and in allowing me to be part of the ’Jacobs club’!
Put simply and succinctly, “I wouldn’t have got through the Coronavirus Lockdown’ without Mary Frances Trust being there for me”.
