  • Nature Nurtures Support Volunteer

    Working closely with our member of staff / tutor, this role will complement and support the service delivery of our Nature Nurtures activities in Surrey Downs.

    Based in various venues in the Surrey Downs, this will be a rewarding role for someone seeking opportunities to learn how to facilitate groups outdoors.   We support clients with their emotional and mental wellbeing encouraging greater connection with nature to support better mental health.  This role will suit someone with good people skills, common sense and the ability to get alongside others, and who enjoys or is interested in spending time outdoor. We seek someone looking for a short to medium term involvement.

    The volunteer role also includes a small amount of time to set up and pack away materials. Some clients may have communication and confidence difficulties due to a number of health-related issues.

    Nature Nurtures courses usually run once per week, for 4 to 6 sessions, between 1 ½ to 2 hours. You can chose to support only one Nature Nurtures course, or all.

    Key Points

    • You can volunteer for one or more courses.
    • Times variable depending on the course (day time)
    • Days variable depending on the course (Mon to Fri)
    • Locations: Epsom, Ewell, Tattenham Corner, Holmwood, Dorking, Cobham
    • Short to medium term involvement (1-5 months)
    • Some experience welcome but not essential

    What we ask of you

    • Support the tutor / facilitator to deliver the planned activity each week
    • Help set up, pack away any equipment
    • Support and assist staff / facilitator with any difficulty that may arise
    • Respect the need for personal & professional boundaries with clients
    • Report any safeguarding concerns to staff in a timely manner to ensure clients are able to access the support they need (safeguarding training will be provided)

    Please note: 
    You do not need to have any previous volunteer experience to volunteer for this role although the ability to get on with people and communicate well with others is key.
