Hi all,
I have used some old CDs to create this week’s activity. They were so simple to make and look very pretty when the light catches them and makes them sparkle.
You will need:
The first thing you need to do is paint the shiny side of your CD or DVD. I had a pack of old blank ones that we no longer use. I knew one day they would come in handy for something! Remember to put down some newspaper or something to protect your work surface from the paint.
Once the paint is completely dry you can start to scratch your pattern. It’s very easy to scrape off the paint using something with a blunt point. It does not need to be sharp. I went straight in and created a couple of mandalas and one with a floral and leaf design freehand, but you can draw you pattern with a pencil first if you want to follow some guidelines.
That’s it! It really is very easy. I’m going to experiment with some different kinds of varnish to see if I can use my for coasters or if not I might make an outdoor hanging mobile which will look amazing as they catch the sun as they move in the breeze. I will be sure to update my social media pages so you can see and if you come up with any good ideas, then please let me know!
As always I would love to see any of your creations. Please get in touch with comments, suggestions and photos via my social media on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter as: The Crafty Hare UK (@thecraftyhareuk) or you can reply to the MFT social media posts.
Thanks for reading and I will see you next week!
Beccy
