Following the success of our Big Mosaics project, we’re running another three-week Mosaics Course starting on Friday 6 March from 11am to 1pm at the Joseph Palmer Centre, Molesey. You’ll learn the skills to make a mosaic out of glass, ceramic or stone, which you can then take home to display in your home or garden! There will be a Tutor on hand to teach you and refreshments provided. To book contact Michael or register your interest online.
Our Creative Writing Group runs on the 2nd Tuesday of every month, between 3pm and 4.30pm. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 10 March. The Tutor, Chris, has written a poem about the group:
“Escape Write” Mary Frances Trust © Chris Andrews
“The Mary Frances Trust creative writing group
Does the perfect literary loop the loop.
We meet at the Joseph Palmer Centre
With Chris Andrews as our mentor.
We meet once a month on the second Tuesday.
You meet different people and the writing is fun and play.
We call ourselves “Escape write”
Because if you don’t like it you are free to escape right.
We have been running for a year now,
Through strong attendance and leaner times somehow.
We wrote the lyrics to our own mental health rock song.
We write about different subjects and the class is an hour and a half long.
But don’t worry we have teas and coffees at the start
And a break in the middle, in the room where they normally do art.
People of all standards are welcome.
There’s no reason to stay home in boredom.
The Joseph Palmer Centre is in Elmbridge,
So come along and put your time to good usage
Ring Michael Powell on 07961 478625 to join in,
So have a go and join in with a grin.”
- Elmbridge Eagles FC, who train at Walton Xcel every Friday, have changed the time of their training session. The team now trains from 12pm to 2pm.
- Wednesday’s Computer lessons now run bi-weekly and the next session available in March is for: Tuesday 18 March from 6pm to 7pm. You will need to book before attending!
- Due to lack of interest, the Elmbridge Book Club which took place in Hersham once a month has discontinued for the foreseeable future.
- Leacroft Legends FC, who trained in Staines, have also decided to stop training. The team was formed back in 2006 and played in the Surrey Mental Health league for many years. The team are sad to see the football club go but felt it was best for everyone involved with the club.
