Mary Frances Trust is made up of a Board of Trustees, paid staff, volunteers and, most importantly, the people we support. We have structured our organisation so that it is our Members who elect the Board of Trustees, who then take responsibility for the strategic development of the charity.
As a Registered Charity and a Company Limited by Guarantee, we hold an Annual General Meeting every year. This is required under company and charity law, and is a time when our Members and other interested stakeholders can find out more about the organisation’s financial results, services and various projects over the preceding year.
As part of the AGM process, we have to draw up a register of Members of Mary Frances Trust. To be eligible to register as a Member of Mary Frances Trust, you need to have lived experience of mental health issues or be a carer of someone with mental health issues.
The registered Members of our company are defined as those people who register as such shortly before the AGM each year. Registered Members are invited to vote on the Annual Report and Accounts of the financial year 2020-2021 and any resolutions posed at the AGM, and throughout the following year. Most importantly it is the registered Members of Mary Frances Trust who appoint the Board of Trustees. Each year at least one third of the Board will step down for re-election.
At this year’s AGM, you’ll be able to virtually meet our CEO and Trustees, hear about our 2020/2021 financial results as well as how we’ve faced the challenges and opportunities presented by the pandemic. You’ll also hear about the work of our Advisory Group and how we’ve managed to raise awareness and educate people about mental health in Surrey.
We will share a more detailed agenda nearer the time.
On top of approving our Annual Report and Accounts 2020-2021 and appointing new financial auditors, our registered Members will be voting on the election of Claire Nethersole as a new Trustee.
It will also be the turn of our Treasurer Paul Matthews, and Trustee Susan Grant to step down and present themselves for re-election, so our registered Members will be asked to approve their re-appointment.
If you’d like to vote at the AGM but cannot attend the meeting, you can still vote by requesting a proxy form. To do so, please contact Kerry, our Administration Officer, at kerry@maryfrancestrust.org.uk or on 01372 375400 or 07929 024722 (SMS service) by Monday 25 October 2021.
If you would like to know more about our Trustees before voting for their re-election, you can read our Trustees profiles on our website.
If you would like to see a draft copy of our Annual Report and Accounts 2020-2021, please contact Kerry, our Administration Officer, at kerry@maryfrancestrust.org.uk or on 01372 375400 or 07929 024722 (SMS service).
We look forward to “seeing” you on 1 November!
Many thanks,
The Mary Frances Trust Team
