According to Florence Nightingale: “Variety of form and brilliancy of colour in the object presented to patients are an actual means of recovery.” This 4-week Arts course will help you to draw and paint beautiful botanic pictures. A range of plants and flowers will be provided for you to choose from.
Topics include: how to create shade and texture, how to appreciate different shapes and forms in nature, and reflect these in art. This course is starting on 28 February, 10am-12pm at the Focus Youth Centre in Epsom. According to Chungliang Al Huang, Chinese philosopher, dancer, performing artist, and internationally acclaimed taijiquan master and educator: “Tai Chi does not mean oriental wisdom or something exotic. It is the wisdom of your own senses, your own mind and body together as one process”. As this was popular, we’re running another four-week session from 8 January 2020. Classes run on Wednesdays from 4pm until 5pm at the Kung Fu & Tai Academy, 2nd Floor, Blenheim House, 1 Blenheim Road, Epsom KT19 9AP.

We’re running a 4-week course on Thursdays starting on 16 January 2020, from 2pm until 4.30pm at the Job Centre in Epsom. It will help you identify lifestyle changes to enable a better quality of life, explain how to better manage stress and anxiety and describe three ways to build emotional resilience.

A new Reading Group will run on the first Tuesday of every month from 6pm until 8pm at the Banstead Youth Centre. Reading helps us to gain new perspectives, boosts teamwork skills and much more. Registration with MFT is required to attend.
This 4-week course is open to all but please note that the crèche facility is only available for those registered with Epsom Downs Family Centre. Places are limited, so call Angelina on 01737 851 079/085 to secure a place for your child. The course is starting on Monday 20 January, from 10am until 11am at the Banstead Youth Centre. It will be facilitated by Master Mark Hayward, who is a Certified Instructor 6th Dan Black belt.

Our Women’s Arts and Sewing Group in Epsom ended the year well with a great party. We had lovely food and music! The group is co-producing the activities they want to engage in in the new year and have decided to try out 5D diamond painting.
Diamond painting reduces stress and anxiety, trains your brain to focus, helps your fine motor skills, increases your social circles and sparks creativity. We will be doing diamond painting as an activity from 22 January 2020.
Christians Against Poverty (CAP) are running an eight-week course to help you deal with addictions of all kinds. “Fresh Start” aims to support people by giving them practical techniques to combat those addictive behaviours.
There will also be free support available from Fresh Start Coaches giving you the opportunity to start to take small steps forward. The course is open to everyone and starts on Monday 27 January from 7.30pm until 9pm at Merland Rise Church in Tadworth. In partnership with Surrey Care Trust (SCC), we will be running a one-day First Aid Course on 30 January at Phoenix Youth Centre (PYC) from 9.30am until 4pm as well as an Healthy Eating Course from 6 February from 10am until 12pm. There will be an enrolment session on 30 January 10am-12pm for Healthy Eating at the PYC. Come along to register.
Mosaics will start on 7 February at Brickfield Centre from 10.30am until 12.30pm (instead of 13 January) with an enrolment session on 31 January, 10.30am-11.30am. All these courses have limited places, so please book in advance.
